THE BLOOD OF CU CHULAINN

Music: Jeff Danna and Mychael Danna

Bill Brown- Bagpipes; Erich Arndt- Guitar; Gary Eurice- Fiddle; John Heller- Bass; Rich Lipski- Banjo; Tommy Leanza- Drums

Anyone who has seen the movie "The Boondock Saints" will know this song, even if they aren't familiar with its title. The original song is beautifully airy, wistful, and does a brilliant job of setting the tone of the film. So why not flip it on its head and turn it into a rock song? Don't answer that.... When arranging this cover, it was important to me that we stay true to the original. As such, the layout of the song is the same and the defining melodies are very much present, albeit with different instrumentation. To put our signature on it, we decided to let the fiddle and pipes lead this song. The final touch was the unexpected addition of Rich's banjo, which does a nice job of adding some Celtic flavor and finesse to the otherwise rock-driven rhythm section. -Gary

This is my favorite song because I do nothing...pure bliss.  -Brendan

This was one of the first tunes we worked on after switching to my Blair electric bagpipes.  On them is a fair representation of Uillean Pipes.  It took me several weeks to get the fingerings down as they were drastically different than Highland Pipes, but the result can be seen across the album.  I’ve really grown to enjoy the sound, and am looking to have a proper set built for me in the near future. (If you are my wife, ignore that last sentence)  -Billy
